Just A Little About Me

My Photography Influence, Education, Experience, Photographic Specialties, Customer Service, Pricing, and Volunteer Work

Who Am I?

Hi! I would like to take a moment to share a little bit about me. I have been married to my best friend for over 20 years and I have 2 beautiful, intelligent, creative, and wonderful children! I have been a stay-at-Mom since 2005.

Early Photography Influence

I stole my first camera from my mother when I was five years old. Once I laid my hands on it, I knew what I was going to be when I grew up.

I was a very insecure and timid child, and this stolen camera taught me some particularly important life lessons. It taught me that I did not have to be scared to express myself or my creativity. It also taught me that I did not have to be afraid of making mistakes or of failure; I’ve learned to admit them, to learn from them, and to try, and try again.

But as I was growing up, I was taught that photography was not something that one should pursue as a “real” career. So, my photography remained a hobby for 42-years.

My Education

Once my children were grown enough that they didn’t need me by their side all the time anymore, I decided to return to school to pursue a degree in digital photography. After years of following the works of many famous photographers who inspired me, I decided that It was time to turn my hobby into a career.

Today, with a degree in digital photography, and four years of training in Theatre Arts and Technical Theatre, I am a Freelance/Contract Photographer working on building my own small business, Creatively Unique Photography. I also have 17 years of experience working in customer service and customer service management, so I know a bit about how to make my clients happy.

My photography education has not stopped since college. I am continually taking workshops to stay current in my field and to expand on my knowledge.

My Experience and Photographic Specialties

Before my children were born, I worked in Retail Management for many years, which gave me quite a bit of knowledge on how to display and present merchandise so that customers would be enticed to purchase it.

From there, I went to work in Corporate offices in positions of Office Management Assistants, Office Management, Financial Management, and the assistant to the CEO; so I had the opportunity to learn quite a bit about the Corporate world.

I have a diverse background when it comes to education and work experience. This has proven to allow me to see photography through many genres. I use my education from Theatre Arts and Technical Theatre quite often in my photography. I believe this sets my Portrait photography apart from most others. What I learned then now influences my Portraiture, especially when my Conceptual (Storytelling) Portraiture. It certainly influences my Fine Art, and the Cover photography for books and albums that I do.

I also do Product Photography, not only using skills that I learned in college but also putting to use the display and product layout skills that I learned while working in Retails.

I work in Corporate photography as well. This includes photographing basic business head-shots and executive portraits. I also photograph architecture, site locations, and products for marketing brochures, client reports, and web images.

My photography internship was completed through working for a non-profit Women’s Rights Group where I used the Documentary and Photojournalism Skills that I learned in school. This experience helped to prepare me for all types of event photography.

Lastly, I provide Photo Restoration, Photo Organization and Scanning. I provide Archival Services for photography, important family genealogy documents (military records, birth certificates, death certificates, etc.), ancestral record books (family genealogy bibles, baby books, etc.), and clothing and heirloom items important to events such as baptism, bat mitzvah's, Quinceañera's, Weddings, Anniversaries, and other important milestones.

Customer Service and Pricing

No matter what service I am providing, I pride myself on giving only the best in customer satisfaction both in services and products at affordable rates. I believe that what I do is not only an art but also a record of time. I try to price my services as affordably as possible, and if you cannot afford them, I am always willing to work with you on pricing. I believe that a single mom working two jobs to feed her kids should have access to the same quality of portraiture as everyone else.

I work for free when it comes to Non-Profit Organizations that need my services, if you work for one of these organizations and need help, all you need to do is ask.

The motivation behind my work is simple: to capture the feelings and emotions of the people and things that make the world go around. If you do not feel anything when looking at my work, then I have done something wrong, and I must try, and try again.
